Hey wait, isn’t the President of the United States a Kenyan who was friendly with teachers and enjoys playing basketball?

This was from an article in The New York Times back in 2007:

To his high school classmates, Barack Obama was a pleasant if undistinguished student, the guy who seemed happiest on the basketball court, the first to dive into the pumpkin carving at Halloween, the one whose oratorical prowess was largely limited to out-debating classmates over the relative qualities of point guards.

Putting terrorists on trial in our court system will not be an example of American justice, it will be a travesty of justice. Our system is the fairest in the world, offering a myriad of safeguards for U.S. citizens. For example:

• Innocent until proven guilty.
• A right to an attorney.
• A speedy trial.
• Evidence obtained illegally can not be used against you.
• Search warrants based on probable cause.
• Fifth amendment rights against self incrimination.
• Trial by a jury of your peers …

It’s ridiculous to assume these basic rights were provided to the combatants we detained on the battlefield. You can’t circumvent the arrest process and expect a conviction under our legal system. The president and attorney general are out of their minds to think they can hold these terrorists to the same legal standards as every other citizen.

American justice ends with a “fair trial,” but it’s the process of how we get there that protects citizens. How many cases have been thrown out because evidence was obtained without probable cause, or because confessions were coerced or given without an attorney being present?

Could it be any more obvious that these men can’t have a fair trial in America?

Perhaps the most egregious legal offence against them is that the president and his attorney general have already “guaranteed” convictions while suggesting they are coming to New York for a “fair trial.” Statements like these represent a greater violation of their civil rights than when troops interrogated them to prevent additional attacks. The battlefield can be an ugly place.

Where is the outrage among the legal community and civil rights supporters? What will the ACLU have to say about this miscarriage of justice?

When these terrorists were captured on the battlefield we lost the possibility of giving them a trial. That’s what makes this such a difficult situation. There are few options under this scenario: release them, return them to face justice in the countries where they were arrested, or try them as military combatants.

A military tribunal would seem to be the only way to provide these men with any semblance of “justice.” Under a military tribunal they would be entitled to legal representation and would have an opportunity to present a full blown defense. Prosecutors would have to make a case against them. That would be a true measure of the American justice system.

When Obama assured Americans that abortions would NOT be part of his health care reform proposal why didn’t pro-abortion organizations protest? What’s up with that?

In a word (or in leftwing code), it means everyone knows Obama’s lying. After all, he is the most pro-abortion president in our history … he even voted against medical intervention for born alive fetuses. So when he says abortion is not part of his health agenda it’s with a wink and a “shout out” to the political left.

When he says he thinks marriage should be between a man and woman, his supporters understand it’s not true. When he says he never heard Reverend Wright say those things about America and white people he gets a pass.

When Obama said the war in Afghanistan was the “right war” for America to fight, he had his fingers crossed behind his back.

Eric Holder announced on Friday that several GITMO detainees will now be tried in our courts instead of military tribunals. If anyone in America should be explaining why terrorists are coming to New York to face civilian trials it’s President Obama.

This time Obama’s not even voting “present” as he did 100 times in the Illinois legislature: this time he’s “missing in action” on an extended tour of Asia. Obama let Eric Holder take the heat for that decision.

During the campaign Obama said he had no interest in prosecuting former Bush officials for torture. He wanted to look forward. Again it was Eric Holder who made the decision to appoint a special prosecutor to re-examine the torture issue.

Saying one thing and meaning another is one thing, but having to make tough decisions and take action is quite another. Obama is like Robbie the Robot in the movie Forbidden Planet … when he finally has to make a decision he blows a gasket and shuts down. So far he’s let Holder, Pelosi, Reid, and even Tim Geithner do the heavy lifting in his administration on the hard tasks.

President Obama doesn’t have a communications problem, he has a problem making decisions and following through on the things he says. That’s not a good trait for the leader of the free world.

In this case, Hasan was pretty confident that he would meet no armed resistance to his murderous plan since guns are prohibited. They still haven’t figured out how he got two pistols on the base.

Fortunately, there were two civilian police offers who did have guns and engaged the shooter within four minutes.

Heroes to be sure! Armed Heroes.

That’s how the Washington Post and MSNBC portray Major Nidal Hasan, the suicidal shooter/psychiatrist from Fort Hood Texas.

On the left is a profile of the “lonely life” of the “alleged” Fort Hood shooter.

On the right is a photo of a man who “mourns his father who was slain” in a suicide attack. The photo shows the agony created by the senseless slaughter of innocent people. At least they didn’t do a psychological profile of the Pakistani bomber.

In the case of the Fort Hood attacker, they even go so far as to show a “memorial set up in the courtyard of his apartment complex …”

A Newsweek headline on the same website asks if the Fort Hood attack was a “terrorist act?”

The facts in the case are pretty cut and dried. The Fort Hood assassin told his neighbor "I’m going to do good work for God," giving her a copy of the Koran on his way out.

Let’s put it this way, he knew he wouldn’t be coming home for Thanksgiving.

Clearly this was a “suicide attack” carefully planned and carried out by a military psychiatrist who had a “lonely life” and who thought he was doing God’s work. He shouted “Allahu Akbar” (God is great) before he started shooting.

If that’s not a terrorist attack then we’ve got a long way to go before we can ever hope to defeat Islamist extremists … at home and around the world.

Pelosi’s idea of health care coverage for all Americans is that it will cost you and your family upwards of $15,000 a year for a basic health care insurance plan. And that’s one of the lower cost plans.

What if you don’t want to spend that much? The bill provides that if you don’t have “adequate health insurance” you may face stiff fines and even jail time.

“H.R. 3962 provides that an individual (or a husband and wife in the case of a joint return) who does not, at any time during the taxable year, maintain acceptable health insurance coverage for himself or herself and each of his or her qualifying children is subject to an additional tax.” [page 1]

If you “willfully” decide not to buy health insurance you face a “fine of up to $25,000 and/or imprisonment of up to one year in jail.”

According to the Congressional Budget Office, the estimated average cost of the lowest-cost insurance plans in 2016 will be: $5,300 for a single policy and $15,000 for a family.

The article goes on to profile several recent activities our troops have been engaged in, including “the marines hope to open a school and provide medical facilities. They are also offering to pay Khan and others to provide jobs to improve the canal system.”

“When we talked to the grey-bearded men in the village, in the shade of one-room mosques, most appeared friendly. Asked if they wanted a school or more doctors, all said such questions were a matter for those who own the fields.”

Open a school and provide medical facilities? Sorry, this is not an appropriate mission for our marines. And that’s where things went wrong for the Bush administration. The marines quickly removed the Taliban from power. Saddam Hussein was gone in three weeks. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.

Marines are trained to search and destroy the bad guys, not build them a school. Nation building, particularly in a tribal country like Afghanistan, is doomed to fail. If these activities are so important, then let the UN step up and help. Let’s not spill any more American blood.

Morale dips for American marines in Afghanistan

Here’s another interesting spin on the war from a former Marine who was serving as an adviser for the Obama administration. He resigned from his post because he was starting to realize that the so-called war in Afghanistan is a civil war, one that has the better part of 35 years.

According to Matthew Ho, who wrote a four page protest letter of resignation to the Obama administration, the most important issue in Afghanistan isn’t how the war is being fought, but why:

"I have lost understanding of and confidence in the strategic purposes of the United States’ presence in Afghanistan," he wrote Sept. 10 in a four-page letter to the department’s head of personnel. "I have doubts and reservations about our current strategy and planned future strategy, but my resignation is based not upon how we are pursuing this war, but why and to what end."

We need to pull back and re-deploy our troops to protect Americans from terrorists. We can no longer support a mission that tries to provide a democratic government in Afghanistan. It is folly to expect our marines to deliver lunches, provide education, dig canals, and build hospitals.

The new mission should be containment of terrorist organizations inside Iraq, Iran, and Afghanistan. We should also make it clear that the United States will not tolerate the harboring of terrorism training activities in countries like Somalia and Pakistan.

According to several studies, highlighted in an article from the Americans For Tax Reform "Green Jobs" in Germany, the idea that we can create green jobs by supporting technological advances is false.

In Spain every so-called “green job” leads to the loss of 2.2 regular jobs. Only 1 in 10 green jobs become permanent jobs.

Germany has found that creating green jobs can be a very expensive process, costing as much as $240,000 per-job in government subsidies.

On top of that, the process of creating green jobs in Germany has also stifled innovation and slowed advances in energy technology. How is that? Government subsidized jobs leave no room for innovation. Government money determines what technology will be developed whether that technology is effective or not.

The salvation of our souls is interested in the event: for wherever tyranny is established, Immorality of every kind comes in like a torrent. It is in the Interest of tyrants to reduce the people to ignorance and vice. For they cannot live in any country where virtue and knowledge prevail.

Chai Feldblum, a Georgetown law professor, was nominated by President Obama to head the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. According to a story on CSN News, in 2004 she told a UCLA law school symposium that gay sex is “morally good.” She explained her position like this:

“Now, you may think that might be a little crazy to go out there and say, ‘Gay sex is good.’ But think about it for a second. Society definitely believes that heterosexual sex is good, right? Heterosexual sex within a certain framework–marriage–I mean you can’t get more dewy-eyed and romantic in this society about how wonderful that is.”

That is not to say that gay sex should be outlawed, or that gay sex should not be allowed among consenting adults, or that gay adults should be discriminated against. But do we have to also that it is “morally good?”
